Last weekend was my anniversary. 11 years. We were supposed to go out of town to go on some thrift store adventures, but it didn’t work out. Hopefully we’ll get to go soon, but until then we did get to do some junkin locally on Saturday. We found this little thrift store in a small town very near us. It had some pretty interesting stuff, but no score for me. As I was looking around my husband disappeared into the “warehouse” in the back. I was looking at the books right up front by the register, where the middle aged owner lady sat knitting a hat and listening to a romance novel being read on a cd. WELL, let me just tell you that I now know that a romance novel is better read to yourself straight from the actual book. I was SHOCKED at what I was hearing. My eyes grew very big and I started an uncontrollable giggle. I couldn’t even finish looking for my laughter. I still can’t believe what my innocent ears heard. This was for sure one of the oddest moments I’ve experienced.

Anyway….

Do you watch TV? I don’t watch nearly as much as I used to but I do have some staples that are completely necessary for me to get through the week. Since the passing of my beloved Gilmore Girls ( I call it a passing cause I think I actually had a funeral for it) I have yet to find a show that I love as much.

Until now. Well almost as much! Have you or do you watch ABC’s The Middle? This show is hilarious. I’m originally from Indiana, which makes it all the more funny to me. I am convinced that Axl, the teenage son, is actually my teenage daughter. The resemblance is uncanny. Not physically of course, but this kid’s actions are my daughter for sure. I wonder if she gets offended when I tell her that EVERY time we watch it…??

Last year I bought a book entitled The Salvage Studio. I browsed through it a couple of times and thought “this is pretty awesome”. Then, a few weeks ago I picked it up again and was completely inspired! I have fallen in love with “junk”. I have informed my husband that I am now a “junker”. I don’t know how well this will go over since he is in the mode of cleaning out such places as the shed, which is where I would store my junk. Hmmm….

Anyway, this has also inspired me to rearrange my house a bit. We moved into this home about 2 1/2 years ago. It had a living room – dining room combo and a family room connected to the kitchen. It has always stumped me. I don’t need a formal living room, so it was like our family room. The family room has been a crafting room, an office and a Wii room for the kids. It was always a mess, cluttered and disorganized. Since it was the room that most guests saw first, I was completely unhappy with it.

Solution — Family room is now the dining room and the dining room is now the office.

Now I’m happy. Well pretty much. I’m not done yet. I painted the dining room. It has paneling on 2 of the wall and I always disliked it, but since it’s painted it looks pretty good. I’m going for a farmhouse look, so it suits it. The book shelves will soon house a flat tv….. YES a tv in the dining room. I know, but I can’t help it. Some new decor and a new chandelier will be purchased soon. I can’t wait till it’s done!

HI! It’s me. Oh…you don’t remember me? I can imagine, since I haven’t blogged for about 6 months. I’ve been busy…oookaaay?? Well, it’s a new year, a new decade even, so my resolution is follow through. Follow through on blogging, crafting, creating, marketing, exercise, schedules. You know, EVERYTHING. Seems lofty though. Hopefully it’s not too high of a goal. We’ll find out, wish me luck!

This is a picture of a trunk show I had back in November. I would say it was a success. I would absolutely love to do more of these! I have all the changes mapped out in my head…..now to just follow through!

Ugh! I just can’t keep up with all of it……. the social networking. I mean really! Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Blogging, etc.., etc…. You know the list goes on and on. When I first started twittering, I thought, this is FANTASTIC! I haven’t twittered since June 18 and before that it was sometime in May. For me, it’s too demanding. How do I find time to actually produce a product to twitter about if I’m constantly trying to keep up with it all. So my conclusion is, for now I must be a Twitter party pooper. Maybe someday I’ll tweet ya again.

Have you been over to her shop? Wow! I love it! I’m a huge fan of coffee, so I adore her coffee cup sleeves, especially His Moustache, hehe. But my absolute favorite has to be the White Button Scarflette. It’s so soft and pretty.

Yeah right! That expression must have come from a kid. Oh to have the whole summer off…… what a dream. Actually, I hope to be very busy this summer. Not just with chauffeuring my kids everywhere in the world and coming up with fun new things to do with them, but also with my shop. Business is picking up and I have my fingers crossed that it will continue in that direction!

One of the best things about our summers is my husband’s family reunion. This crazy concoction happens every year in various places. This year it is happening in Cocoa Beach, which is conveniently close to my home. Yay! No 2 day road trips this year! This is the first year we’ve gathered at the beach, which is both great and tragic at the same time. SWIMSUIT, AGH!!!! Last year I was awarded the great honor of the “medal”. OK – so here’s the short version – Once upon a time it was the son-in-law award, eventually it went to the only son, then it was handed down to my generation. The QUEEN Grandma is in her 80’s now and she needs help from time to time, so the award is supposed to go to the ones who tend to help. I really don’t know how it came to be that I received this medal, but now I must hand it off to someone else. It is a very hard decision. Most of the family does not live near the QUEEN, so how can they help? I have no idea who I will choose, what I do know is that my presentation has to be completely hilarious. I have pics of me serving the QUEEN her meals, and so on…. all staged of course. I would LOVE some suggestions on the presentation of this!!! Give me all your funny stuff!!! Oh, and have a great summer!!!!!
